Holy Cow Indian Cuisine was planning to open their first restaurant location. They had the concept, name and a fun tagline, but they needed a professional design agency to bring it all to life.
Clear Image developed an original logo design and brand identity for Holy Cow, featuring a cow character that became the focal point of the brand and a symbol of the fun, playful personality of the restaurant.
“The Holy Cow” character is the main element of the logo design. When we created the cow, we wanted to make it unique and different from a traditional dairy cow style, so that there was no mistaking this was an Indian restaurant – not an ice cream parlour or burger joint. This cow is clearly in the clouds, above all other cows with big smirk and a heavenly halo. The greenery around the cow signifies the healthy and fresh menu options available at the restaurant. The restaurant name is bold and easy to read, while still being fun. The tagline font also has some character, but it’s clear and doesn’t overpower the other elements of the design.
The logo was first drafted and sketched on paper and then digitized as a high resolution vector and converted into different versions for use on various background colours and applications. In addition to the logo, we provided the client with different versions of The Holy Cow character in various poses to be used in different marketing applications, along with a brand colour palette, fonts and usage guidelines.
